Top-ranked lightweights Beneil Dariush and Mateusz Gamrot will clash at the stacked UFC 280 on October 22. The possible No. 1 contender bout was initially reported by ESPN.

Beneil Dariush rides a seven-fight win streak

No. 6 ranked Beneil Dariush rides a seven-fight win streak that includes stoppage wins over Drew Dober, Scott Holtzman and Drakkar Klose. He last defeated Tony Ferguson with a dominant performance in May 2021. Dariush was then expected to fight Islam Makhachev at UFC Vegas 49, but was forced to pull out of the fight due to an injury.

His opponent, No. 9 ranked Mateusz Gamrot, rides a four-fight win streak since his loss to Guram Kutateladze in his UFC debut on October 18, 2020. He last defeated Arman Tsarukyan via unanimous decision in their headline fight on June 25.

UFC 280 current fight card

UFC 280 will take place on October 22 at the Etihad Arena in Abu Dhabi. With the addition of Dariush and Gramrot, the lineup is looking to be one of the best of 2022.
