Popular Brazilian middleweight Paulo ”Borrachinha” Costa has one fight left on his current UFC contract.

At UFC 284 in Australia, he’s set to clash with former champion Robert Whittaker in a three-round fight. However, on a recent episode of Submission Radio, the Brazilian claimed that he did not sign a contract for the highly anticipated fight yet.

”They asked me about Robert, if I should fight him and I said ’yes of course it would be a pleasure to fight him’, but they didn’t send any offer to fight him yet,” Costa said.

The top ranked middleweight also opened up on his current contract, calling it the biggest mistake of his career.

”I fought top five guys and I get money as a beginner,” Costa said.

“I think the big mistake of my career was sign that deal in 2017 for so long for so less money. I didn’t sign a smart deal. But it was part my fault and partly the fault of my management at the time. So I’m trying to fix that.”

Paulo Costa: ”Boxing is a great thing going on right now”

Whatever happens in the future, ”Borrachinha” sees a lot of financially good options.

“You know, UFC is a very good company,” Costa said. “It’s the biggest one of MMA. It depends. It depends on the terms. You can see a lot of good opportunities in the fight sports. You have boxing. Boxing is a great thing going on right now — a lot of big names. So it makes a lot of sense to me.”
