UFC president recently Dana White announced that “Ruthless” Robbie Lawler’s fight against Nico Price at UFC 290 will be the last in his long and successful UFC career.
“I found Robbie Lawler when he was 19 years old and UFC 290 will be the final fight of his amazing 22 year career,” White said on social media.
However, it seems like the promotion looks to put the legendary former champion’s last fight on the prelims instead of in the limelight of the main card.
At the 2023 International Fight Week, Lawler joins the fight wing of the UFC Hall of Fame as his fantastic 2015 welterweight title fight with Rory MacDonald will be enshrined.
“Ruthless” won the epic fight against MacDonald to defend his welterweight strap. The fight has since been acclaimed as one of the greatest in the history of the sport.
Lawler made his professional MMA debut in 2001, and has a 29-16-1 record going into his last fight at UFC 290.
