Despite only having two fights in the UFC, Ikram Aliskerov is a dangerous opponent according to former middleweight champion Robert Whittaker.

As a four-time world champion in combat sambo, Aliskerov possesses a bunch of weapons that can prove to be difficult for the UFC veteran.

“He’s a dangerous guy and he’s got a really good skill set,” Whittaker said about Aliskerov. “The odds display that. I understand the type of fight it’s going to be. It could be harder than Chimaev. I’m ready and loaded to get this done.”

Robert Whittaker expects an aggressive opponent

The fact that Aliskerov took the fight on short notice, and got the chance to fight a top ranked opponent and former champion, puts him in a position where he has nothing to lose.

“I expect him to come out really hard and aggressive and bring that level of threat,” Whittaker said. “I watched a couple fights, I watched some footage and some tape – he’s a dangerous guy. He’s got a really strong skill set. He knows what he’s good at and he uses that to great effect.”

Even though Whittaker won’t face Khamzat Chimaev, he hope to have the fight rescheduled in the future.

“I feel for him and I wish him a speedy recovery and I wish him all the best.”
