There is a lot at stake for Tony “El Cucuy” Ferguson going into the cage at UFC 296.
If he loses against Paddy Pimblett in Saturday’s main card bout, he will tie B.J. Penn for the longest losing skid in UFC history. Not a fun turn of events for a former lightweight interim champion with a 12-fight winning streak.
At the recent UFC media day, the 39-year-old claimed he was more ready than ever to end the losing skid and get back on track.
“I’m here. I’m back to where I needed to be. Much better than I ever have been. I’m faster, I’m stronger, I’m more mentally strong than any fucking person who is going to be here that walks through these fucking cage walls,”
At the press conference, Tony Ferguson went full on attack mode against his younger opponent.
“He’s worried about me blocking him on fucking Instagram, and I’m like, ‘You’re a little bitch,’” Ferguson said. “If you’re going to talk fucking shit, man up and fucking keep your balls between your legs. Don’t drop them like a little bitch.”
“I know he’s all about the YouTube and all of those things, and he’s got the fucking wigs and the crowd and everything. I’m not here to fucking have fun.”
Paddy Pimblett did not seem to bothered by the veteran’s words.
“I’m waiting for him to say I’ve got Dana White privilege, to be honest,” Pimblett said. “That’s the one thing I haven’t heard him say yet.”
