With Leon Edwards crazy KO-win over Kamaru Usman it’s 1-1 between the two welterweights. After the massive win, UFC president Dana White said he was looking to arrange a third bout between the rivals as soon as he possibly could. This time in Edwards home-turf in England.
At a recent press-conference he updated the fans about the trilogy bout’s status.
“This thing is going to be so huge, not just for the U.K. but for Europe,” White recently said at a press-conference. “We would hold it prime time in the U.K. We’re looking at every option out there right now. We’re looking at all the venues in England. Not just London, we’re looking at every venue in England. We’re looking at everything. There’s a lot of curfews and things you gotta deal with in England but we literally worked on that today.”
Massive British success for the UFC: “Sells out in minutes”
The UFC had massive success in England during 2022. In March the promotion hosted a great event at the O2 Arena in London, featuring British stars like Tom Aspinall, Paddy Pimblett, Molly McCann and Paul Craig.
In July, the promotion had another massive London card that included Swedish stars Alexander “The Mauler” Gustafsson and Jack “The Joker” Hermansson.
“We put a fight night on at the O2 and it sells out in minutes. Imagine what we can do with this thing. It’s gonna be massive over there. We weren’t planning on going to England again. Just like last time I left England,” White said at the recent press-conference.
