UFC parts ways with former flyweight title challenger Jennifer Maia.

After her loss on October 14, the Brazilian decided to not resign with the UFC at the conclusion of her contract. Maia lost to Viviane Araujo via unanimous decision, a defeat that snapped a two-fight winning streak.

The 35-year-old signed with UFC back in 2018 with a loss against Liz Carmouche. During her five years in the promotion she fought some of the absolute best opponents around, like Manon Fiorot, Katlyn Chookagian and veteran Roxanne Modafferi.

In November 2020, she challenged then champion Valentina Shevchenko for the flyweight title. Maia did good in the first round with her solid boxing, but eventually lost the fight via unanimous decision.
