Cory Sandhagen defeated Song Yadong in their pivotal bantamweight main event at UFC Vegas 60.
Sandhagen cut his opponent with an elbow early in the fight, and it just kept getting worse during the rounds. After four rounds of action inside the Apex, the ringside doctor stopped Yadong from continuing.
Even though the American was happy to get back in the win column, he really wanted the fight to go on.
“I hate that it ended that way,” Sandhagen said after the fight. “I think he deserved a fifth round. I wanted to see the fifth round. I wanted to see the scorecards to see if I was winning or not. That’s what I care about is winning. I won.”
The No. 4 ranked bantamweight is looking to fight either Chito Vera or Merab Dvalishvili next.
“I don’t want to get left out. Last time, I got left out. I had to fight down in the rankings. I want to fight someone at the top. Give me someone for Christmas.” Sandhagen said.
The 50 000 dollar Fight of the Night bonus went to Gregory Rodrigues vs. Chidi Njokuani. Two Performance of the Night bonuses were handed out to Damon Jackson and Joe Pyfer.
