The return of 147-pound champion and pound-for-pound king Terence Crawford (40-0, 31 KOs) is official.
Crawford will move up a weight class to challenge WBA light-middleweight champion Israil Madrimov (10-0-1, 7 KOs) on August 3 at BMO Stadium in Los Angeles.
The 36-year-old has won all 40 of his professional boxing fights, and will be targeting a world title in a fourth weight division.
“I cannot wait to get back in the ring in my fourth weight class and remind the world why I’m the best pound-for-pound fighter in the world. Israil Madrimov is a tremendous and entertaining fighter, but on August 3, he will be my next victim. This is the Terence Crawford era,” Crawford said.
Madrimov is undefeated with ten wins and one draw. His fight against Crawford will mark his first world title defense.
“Terence Crawford is one of my favorite boxers and one of the best boxers in the world,” Madrimov said about the matchup. “I am very excited to get this opportunity to make a statement, and I will, Inshallah.”
