Hyped middleweight Bo Nickal recently won a UFC contract on Dana White’s Contender Series. After the victory, Nickal called out undefeated UFC star Khamzat Chimaev, who is 12-0 and ranked No. 3 in the stacked welterweight division.
“He’s got skills and he does a lot of things really well. That being said, ask anybody who knows anything about wrestling, who watches the sport and studies it, then puts time into it – I’m one of the best wrestlers in the world,” Nickal said.
One who believes in Nickal is the Olympic gold medalist and former two-division UFC champion Henry Cejudo, who recently compared the wrestling difference between the two undefeated fighters.
“Chimaev thinks he’s good at wrestling – his wrestling is nowhere near Bo Nickal, I can tell you that. He can take down these UFC guys that have never wrestled – try taking Bo Nickal down, and 100 percent I can see Bo Nickal easily taking down Khamzat Chimaev,” Cejudo said.
After teasing a move up to middleweight, the No. 3 ranked welterweight Chimaev recently hinted that he wants No. 2 ranked Colby Covington next. In his last fight, Khamzat defeated Kevin Holland with a first-round submission. Before that he defeated veteran Gilbert Burns in a FOTY-candidate at UFC 273 in April.
Nickal has three wins as a professional MMA fighter, one KO win at Jorge Masvidal’s iKon FC 3 in June , and two submissions on DWCS in August and September.
