Former UFC heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou has signed with the tournament-based promotion Professional Fighters League.
PFL announced the news of the signing on Tuesday via The New York Times.
According to the promotion, Ngannou will fight in the PFL’s PPV Superfight division which will feature high-profile fights with the combatants receiving a bigger part of the profits.
The former UFC champion is more than happy to sign with PFL and plans to make his promotional debut in 2024.
“Let’s just say, all-in my deal with PFL is more than anyone else offered,” Ngannou told the New York Times. “The past few months have been a very interesting time to understand and see the landscape but I’m very excited about this deal with the PFL because they basically showed what I was expecting.”
Besides fighting as an athlete in the promotion, Francis Ngannou will also join the global athlete advisory board and be a chairman of PFL Africa.
““This is not an athlete deal. Francis is an icon today in the sport, he is the best in the world at what he does, but he’s in business with the PFL. We’re in business together,” PFL CEO Peter Murray told the Times.
