There’s no doubt that 2024 is the break-out year of Max Holzer.

In January the young German featherweight made his debut in leading European promotion OKTAGON MMA and last weekend he capped off the year with his fourth victory.

”The year was full of personal problems but I still managed to be very active and the fights distracted me from whatever other problems I had,” Holzer tells Frontkick in an exclusive interview.

Holzer is rapidly emerging as a standout talent within the organization. The biggest highlight of the year came at the record breaking OKTAGON 62 event, where he fought in front of a crowd of 60,000 German MMA fans – a dream come true for any fighter.

The 22-year-old from Hannover lived up to the moment as he stopped his opponent in the third round, gaining loads of attention.

”OKTAGON 62 was a very special event and it changed everything for me in terms of sponsorship. I became a lot more well-known on all social networks, which always increases the payment.”

Max Holzer could fight for the title in 2025

Boasting an impeccable 10-0 record, Max Holzer is quickly gaining recognition as a force to be reckoned with. If he next year continues to rack up wins in the same furious pace as in 2024 it will only be a matter of time before he earns a shot at the OKTAGON featherweight title.

”I think I will do two more fights so that I have enough experience going into the title fight,” Holzer says. “Right now, I’m more concerned with beating strong contenders than fighting directly for the title.”

The top of the featherweight division is stacked with fighters like Losene Keita, Niko Samsonidse and Mago Machaev. One upcoming fight that Holzer will keep an extra eye on is the February bout between Vladimir Lengal and Deniz Ilbay.

”I definitely want to fight the winner between Lengal and Ilaby, but I’ve also had my eye on Jakub Dohnal for a while.”
