Swedish pro boxer Anthony Yigit returns for international fight on Saturday, faces undefeated opponent

Swedish boxer Anthony Yigit will take on the undefeated American lightweight Keyshawn Davis in a 10-round lightweight bout on April 8 in Newark, New Jersey.

The fight marks the return of the former European Champion, and in an exclusive comment to Frontkick, he gave his thoughts on the upcoming fight.

“We’ve been really well taken care of here in Newark. Me and Erik are working on a game plan that we agreed will be key to winning this fight. My opponent is young with not much experience in the pro ring, whereas me and Erik pack almost 20 years of experience together,” Yigit told Frontkick.

Less than two years into his professional boxing career, Davis has fought seven times with seven wins and no losses, with five victories coming by way of knockout.

The fight serves as the opener of the boxing card that features a main event where undefeated former two-weight world champion Shakur Stevenson who will take on Japanese puncher Shuichiro Yoshino in a 12-round WBC lightweight title eliminator.

ESPN, ESPN Deportes and ESPN+ will broadcast the event, starting at 10 p.m. ET, which is 04:00 CET.

Anthony Yigit competed in the Olympics

Stockholm’s Anthony Yigit has back-to-back knockout wins and a pro record of 24-2-1 going into the fight in New Jersey. His latest loss came in 135-pound fight for Rolando Romero’s WBA interim lightweight title in July 2021.

Back in 2012, the Swedish southpaw competed in the 2012 Summer Olympics in London.

In 2017, Yigit won the vacant European Super Lightweight title as he defeated veteran Lenny Daws. The same year he was named “Champion of the Year” by the European Boxing Union.
