The stacked UFC 280 just took place inside the Etihad Arena in Abu Dhabi.

In the highly anticipated main event, Islam Makhachev submitted former champion Charles “do Bronx” Oliveira to become the undisputed UFC lightweight champion.

In round one, “do Bronx” ended up on his back, where he spent a majority of the first five minutes defending himself. In the second round, Makhachev knocked Oliveira down with a huge right hand, and was able to submit him quickly.

”I trained so hard for this moment, all my life, since I was a kid, I prepared for this moment,” Makhachev said in the post-fight interview.

Makhachevs teammate and friend, Khabib Nurmagomedov also took to the microphone.

“All time we trained together. Islam Makhachev is the pound-for-pound fighter No. 1. Now it is our plan to fly to Australia to fight Volkanovski,” Khabib said in the octagon.

Aljo defeated injured Dillashaw

In the co-main event bantamweight title fight, champion Aljamain Sterling was able to defend his title former two-time champ T.J. Dillashaw. Dillashaw’s left shoulder popped in the first round, but was able to survive until the end of the second round.

We also saw rising bantamweight star Sean O’Malley put on the performance of a lifetime when he defeated former bantamweight champion Petr Yan in a FOTY-candidate. After three tought rounds, “Sugar” stood as the winner via split decision.

Top ranked lightweight Beneil Dariush put on a massive performance as he defeated Mateusz Gamrot via unanimous decision with 30-27, 30-27, 29-28 on the scorecards.

In the first fight on the main card, flyweight Manon Fiorot won an important victory when she defeated No. 1 ranked Katlyn Chookagian via unanimous decision. Fiorot is still undefeated in the promotion, with five straight wins.

On the prelims, top ranked welterweight Belal Muhammad ended Sean Brady’s then 15-0 undefeated record via a second-round TKO.
