Amanda Nunes made her professional MMA debut in 2008 with a first-round submission win.

15 years later she ended her career as a UFC double champion, and one of the most legendary fighters the sport has ever seen.

After a long and successful career ”The Lioness” has a resume that includes wins over former UFC champs Ronda Rousey, Cris Cyborg, Holly Holm, Valentina Shevchenko, Miesha Tate, Julianna Pena and Germaine de Randamie.

The highlights are almost too many to mention.

”Honestly, I have so many. So many highlights,” Nunes said at the UFC 289 post-fight press conference.

”The kick against Holly Holmes was a good one, the fight against Ronda Rousey, the Cyborg fight so many. Tonight was amazing. So many. I’m just very happy and grateful everything ended exactly how I wanted.”

When Amanda Nunes decided to retire

When asked about when she decided to hang up the gloves, the double champion revealed she made the decision as soon as she sealed the deal for the title bout.

”When I signed the contracts for this fight,” Nunes said. ”I tried to hide (it) for you guys the whole week. I just didn’t want to focus on that, I wanted to focus on the fight. Because I did not want to talk about retirement all the time.”

”Imagine if I said ’Yeah I’m going to retire’, it would be all about that. So yeah, I knew the whole time.”
