Last week, former high-ranked bantamweight Aspen Ladd was released from her UFC contract following missing the bantamweight limit on several occasions. Now she has signed with PFL.
”We’re very excited to bring Aspen to the PFL,” PFL president Ray Sefo said. ”She is a talented fighter who has shown she can be one of the top women in the sport and she’ll fit in great for the 2023 season.”
With signing the 27-year-old Ladd, PFL has confirmed that the 2023 season will feature a 145-pound featherweight league.
“I want to thank the Professional Fighters League for giving me the opportunity to continue my career in the PFL SmartCage. I am excited about the PFL’s sport season format where you win and advance based on talent and merit. I look forward to testing myself against the best women’s featherweights in the world,” Ladd said in a statement.

Aspen Ladd was one of the most promising UFC prospects
Aspen Ladd was once considered to be one of the most promising female prospects in the promotion, with eight straight wins and no defeats. However, she left with 4-3 in the UFC, losing to Germaine de Randamie, Raquel Pennington and Norma Dumont.
Ahead of her fight against former title challenger de Randamie, back in 2019, Ladd was in really bad shape stepping onto the scale. Even though she made weight for the bantamweight bout, Ladd was knocked out after just 16 seconds.
