Swedish cruiserweight Badou Jack just defeated American boxer Richard Rivera by split decision on the Oleksandr Usyk vs. Anthony Joshua 2 card in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

There was controversy as the eighth round went nearly four minutes, almost a minute longer than it should have, but after ten tough rounds Jack stood as the winner with 96-94, 96-94, 94-96 on the judges scorecards.

Badou Jack is a former two-division champion

With the important win, the former super middleweight and light heavyweight champion has a record of 27-3-3, with 16 knockouts. The Swede has the intention to become a three-division champion, and now he is getting closer to a cruiserweight title shot.

Jack held the WBC super middleweight title between 2014 to 2017, and the WBA light heavyweight title in 2017. As an amateur he competed at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing.
