Mexican boxing superstar Canelo Alvarez just faced UK’s John Ryder for a super middleweight title bout in Guadalajara, Mexico.

In front of his home crowd, Canelo was able to defeat Ryder via unanimous decision (120-107, 118-109, 118-109) after 12 rounds of action, and successfully defended his WBA (Super), WBC, IBF and WBO super middleweight titles that were on the line.

After the final bell, he took to the microphone to challenge his rival Dmitry Bivol, who defeated Canelo in May last year.

”Everybody knows, we want Bivol, the rematch with Bivol,” Canelo said after the fight. ”If the fight with Bivol won’t happen, then we will see, I’m ready to fight everybody.”

”Same rules, same everything. I just want it that way.”

Historic moment for Canelo

The fight against Ryder was the Mexican boxer’s first on his home turf since 2011.

”It’s a historic moment for me,” Canelo said. ”I’m blessed to be here with my people who support me from the beginning. I’m proud to be here.”

”You know, I’m happy with the fight. I’m happy the people had a great fight. He’s a strong fighter, I know that. I’m not surprised about it.”
