Dana White begs former champ to give up his career right now: ”Please retire”

Former UFC champion Chris Weidman fell short in his octagon comeback at Saturday’s UFC 292 in Boston.

Now, UFC president Dana White begs the middleweight veteran to call it a day and hang up the gloves for good.

”Retire, I love Chris Weidman. I love him, I love his family and I think he should retire,” White said at the post-fight press conference.

”We talked to Doc D, he thinks he (Weidman) blew one of his CL’s and, you know, the guy is just coming back from a gruesome injury. And listen man, father time is not our friend at all and definitely if you are an professional athlete.”

Chris Weidman was gone for two years

The former champion broke his leg back in April 2021, and was forced to take more than two years to recover completely. Now it looks like Weidman could be gone for a long time if he decides he still wants to compete at a professional level.

”First of all, depending on the damage to the knee we are talking another year. So I would say ’Chris I love you, please retire.

Chris Weidman became the UFC middleweight champion back in July 2013 as he knocked out the legendary Anderson ”Spider” Silva. He defended the title three times, against Silva, Lyoto Machida and Vitor Belfort, before losing it to Luke Rockhold in December 2015.
