With this past weekend’s massive performance at UFC 295, French former Special Forces soldier Benoit Saint-Denis put himself on the map of MMA fans all over the world.
His first-round knockout against Matt Frevola cemented his status as one of the most violent lightweigts around, and gave him a No. 11 spot on the division’s rankings.
As Saint-Denis thinks UFC will make the rematch between Islam Makhachev and Charles Oliveira next, a BMF title fight with No. 2 ranked lightweight veteran Justin Gaethje would make sense as a next fight.
”He has the chin to make it a war. You can have tough guys, but if they don’t have the chin, with me, they’re not going to make it,” Saint-Denis said at the MMA Hour. ”I believe we both have a chin…and if people want a violent fight that will make history, the Gaethje fight is the fight to make.”
Benoit Saint-Denis: ”If he wants a war I’m for it”
Benoit Saint-Denis envisions a fight with crazy scrambles and violent exchanges on the feet. In fact, what he claimed he would like the most is a ’blood bath’ against Gaethje.
”It won’t last. I believe he has the chin for it, and I’d really enjoy fighting him. He wants tough fights, making a point in this division…a lot of options for him, but I think I’d excite him as well.”
”If he wants a war I’m for it.”
