Hollywood superstar Tom Hardy wins another BJJ competition: ”He absolutely nailed it”

Hollywood superstar, and BJJ enthusiast, Tom Hardy took part in a local martial arts tournament held in Milton Keynes, England. The actor had great success in the tournament, and made it all the way to the finals, where he defeated local BJJ practitioner Andy Leatherland.

”I made a mistake and he capitalised on that. He absolutely nailed it, and he subbed me, and it was over relatively quickly,” Leatherland said about the fight. ”Lining up, he was very focused. The intensity that he brought to his movie roles, he brought that. He didn’t say a word, he didn’t say anything.”

The event was organised by Ultimate Martial Arts Championships, and the spokesman of the promotion commented on the Hardy’s unexpected appearance.

”Everyone recognised him but he was very humble and was happy to take time out for people to take photographs with him. It was a real pleasure to have him compete at our event,” he said, per Yahoo Sports.

Tom Hardy trained BJJ for his role in The Warrior

Tom Hardy began training in BJJ more than a decade ago, while he was preparing for his major role in the acclaimed MMA-movie Warrior.

The 44-year-old is perhaps most known for his role as Bane in the Batman movie “The Dark Knight Rises” and Eddie Brock in “Venom”.

The British actor also made memorable roles as the bootlegger Forrest Bondurant in “Lawless”, and as the murderous John Fitzgerald in “The Revenant”, where he worked with Leonardo DiCaprio.
