Mexican boxer Canelo Alvarez lost Saturday night’s highly anticipated title bout against WBA light heavyweight champion Dmitry Bivol. After 12 rounds, the undefeated Bivol stood as the winner by unanimous decision (115-113, 115-113, 115-113) at the T-Mobile Arena, Las Vegas.
One who watched the fight is the heavyweight legend Mike Tyson, and now he comes with some stern advices for the Mexican pugilist.
”I think if Canelo was using his jab effectively, hard, the guy wouldn’t be able to come in. The guy was able to come in because he was not worried about Canelo’s jab, ” Tyson said in a recent YouTube video. ”So he got more aggressive and he got brave. If you’re not jabbing he has no defense. If he’s not going to jab, the guy is going to walk right in to him. Like he did.”
The loss to the undefeated Russian was Canelo’s first since 2013, when he was defeated by Floyd Mayweather Jr. However, there was a rematch clause in the contract in the case of Bivol winning the fight, and Canelo wants to go right back in the ring with him.
”Of course, I want the rematch,” Canelo said. ”This doesn’t end here.”
His opponent seems to feel the same way after his win at T-Mobile Arena.
”No problem,” Bivol said. ”I want respect as the champion.”
