UFC on ABC 5 Live results: Ilia Topuria completely dominates Josh Emmett

Featherweight contenders Josh Emmett and Ilia Topuria clashed Saturday at the at the VyStar Veterans Memorial Arena in Jacksonville, Florida in the main event of UFC on ABC 5 – check out the results below!

The feeling out process was short and the top-tier fighters began exchanging shots early. Topuria was faster and managed to find the target more often than his opponent with solid boxing combined with ill-willed calf kicks. In the second round Topuria opened up more on the feet, landing brillaint combinations and counters – one of which dropped Emmett.

An early calf kick from Topuria stopped Emmetts intense start to the third round. They then began trading in the pocket, with Topuria landing the better shots and being more effective defensively. Topuria began dominating outright in the fourth round, dropping his opponent and finishing the round with strong ground strikes.

Emmett came out aggressively in the final round, trying to offset his opponent. However Topuria began landing his jab and took control over the fight once more. After landing a takedown Touria began trying to secure the back but would settle for ground strikes and position, finishing the fight on top.

Topuria would earn a unanimous decision victory, securing a spot in the top five rankings.

Amanda Ribas started out strong in the women’s flyweight co-main event against Maycee Barber. However a vicious elbow to the nose and an unsuccessful kneebar attempt would see Ribas end the first round in a bad position. In the second round Ribas would bloody up her opponents nose and then threaten with strikes from guard. Back on the feet barber landed a hellacious high kick that rocked her opponent badly. Ribas did her best to stay in the fight but she was grounded and pounded out by Barber.

Heavyweights Austen Lane and Justin Tafa didn’t get a chance to get started before the latter fighter was gruesomely poked in the eye, rendering the fight a No Contest.

Ugandan fighter David Onama battled back from adversity in an exciting battle with Gabriel Santos and Brendan Allen showcased a complete game with a first round submission win over Bruno Silva in other main card match ups.

On the prelims Trevor Peek and Jose Mariscal battled it out for three brutal and grueling rounds.
