Retired former boxing world champion Mikaela Lauren will return to the ring on Saturday February 24 at the Danish Fight Night in Copenhagen. She will take on Ioana Fecioru from Romania.
The fight marks the first in almost four years for the Swedish 48-year-old, who last fought in December 2019 against Mexico’s Paty Ramirez.
“I wasn’t really ready to retire,” Lauren said in an interview with Swedish news channel TV4. “I had to choose between becoming a mother or continuing my career. For me it was more important to become a mom.”
“We will see if it will be just one fight or more fights. But I want to do this for my own sake to feel like I gave it another chance.”
Danish Fight Night will take place at Royal Arena in Copenhagen. The card is headlined by a women’s WBC- and WBO World bantamweight championship between Denmark’s Dina Thorslund, Danmark (20-0-0) and Seren Cetin (11-0-0) from Turkey.
