TJ Dillashaw won his first UFC title by defeating Renan Barão on short notice at UFC 173 in May 2014. After two title defenses he lost the belt to Dominick Cruz in January 2016.
Dillashaw bounced back by defeating Cody Garbrandt in November 2017 to win back his belt. After defending the belt against Garbrandt in a rematch, he was stripped of the title in March 2019 after a failed drug test.
He made his octagon comeback in 2021 with a somewhat controversial split decision win against Cory Sandhagen before getting another shot at the title.
In October 2022 he faced Aljamain Sterling, but lost the fight via a second-round TKO.
