Former UFC fighter Karl Roberson faces charges in connection to a robbery in a New Jersey home where $200,000 worth of exotic jewelry and valuables were stolen, according to police.
Roberson was arrested and later released on bail, but could face up to 10 years in prison, if convicted of the felony charges.
A detective Ryan Jackson confirmed it was in fact the UFC fighter Karl Roberson to combat sports newsite MMA Fighting.
“Yes, it would be the same person, Mr. Roberson. I’m familiar with his UFC career,” Jackson said. “It is definitely the UFC fighter, I’m well aware of that.”
“I’m aware that he’s been released. He was lodged at our county jail for two to three weeks, I’m not sure the timeframe, since then he has been released.”
The former UFC fighters arrest occurred during a traffic stop, which he had been driving a vehicle that police believed to be connected to the crime.
Karl Roberson last competed in MMA on July 9, last year, when he faced Kennedy Nzechukwu at UFC Vegas 50. The loss was his fourth straight, and after the fight it was announced that he was no longer on the UFC roster.
The 32-year-old made his UFC debut in November 2017 and pulled together a 4-6 record.
During his years in the promotion he faced tough opponents like Marvin Vettori, Brendan Allen and former light heavyweight champion Glover Teixeira.
