Gilbert Burns lost a hard-fought decision against Swedish breakout star Khamzat Chimaev at UFC 273 this past weekend.
“Durinho”, who was ranked at second place on the UFC official rankings before the fight, fell short of a victory in a real barn-burner where he outlanded the #11-ranked Chimaev according to the official striking statistics.
This Monday the Brazilian took to Twitter where he released a statement after the tough loss.
“Where I’m landing in the rankings tomorrow? To be honest, i don’t care. Just want to see if they will courage the guys to do that, or if they will do opposite. Happy Monday! Fight against the odds and make your mark! They at least will respect you! Do it today!”, Burns writes.

The loss to Khamzat Chimaev was only Gilbert Burns second defeat in his last nine UFC outings, previously having lost to pound-for-pound number one Kamaru Usman in a welterweight title fight in February last year.
Chimaev, in the meantime, scored his eleventh consecutive career win at UFC 273. This was his only his fifth fight in the UFC, and his first win via decision.
