Veteran Jim Miller returns to action on Saturday for his 40th UFC bout, as he’s set to fight Alex Hernandez at the Apex.
Talking to the media at the recent post-fight press conference, the seasoned 39-year-old, who fought at both UFC 100 and UFC 200, revealed what he wants to achieve in his last years as a pro MMA fighter.
“I said I wanted to get to UFC 300,” Miller said. “I’m pretty certain at this point that my body can make it, you know, barring something catastrophic. I’ve said if that I make it there, I want it to be my last UFC fight, and I’m pretty good with that. But I don’t want it to be one more fight in between. I would like UFC 300 to be my 45th UFC fight.”
Jim Miller is currently riding a three-fight winning streak and holds the record of most fights in UFC history, as well as most wins in UFC history. He debuted with the promotion all the way back in 2008, and competed against many of the lightweight division’s biggest names like Charles Oliveira, Anthony Pettis, Dustin Poirier and Nate Diaz.
However, to achieve his goal to fight at UFC 300, he sees himself racking up another bunch of scraps.
“That means I fight Saturday, fight in like July, then maybe November, March, and then July again – which is a good pace, the pace that I like to fight at. That would get me three fights this year, and then two next year. I would be 100 percent content with that.”
