The highly anticipated third clash between welterweight kings Kamaru Usman and Leon Edwards are just days away.
The two top fighters set to complete their heated trilogy on Edwards home turf in England, and both are going into the bout with one win each.
Ahead of the fight, Usman claims that he is the superior MMA fighter of the two – and he intends to show that at the O2 Arena.
“Him and I know. At the end of the day, he’s the champion, and I give that to him. But him and I know,” Usman recently told Sky Sports. “When I get in there and I fight these guys, I’m not fighting their skills. I can fight guys with better boxing than me, better kickboxing, better wrestling credentials. It doesn’t matter, it’s how you mix it up. It’s called mixed martial arts. I don’t think there’s anybody in the world that agrees that he’s a better mixed martial artist than I am.”
In a recent interview with BT Sport, the reigning welterweight champion Edwards shared his thoughts on how the outcome of the last fight will affect the former title holder.
“What does he change? The way he fought me last is the way he fights. I can’t see him in the space of five, six months now being a totally different fighter. I just can’t see it happening,” Edwards said.
However, “The Nigerian Nightmare” claimed he will show the British fighter what’s up come Saturday.
“He’s said a couple things, and I’ll deal with them March 18,” Usman said.
