It looks like Khamzat ”Borz” Chimaev doesn’t injured his hand as bad as he thought in his middleweight bout against Kamaru Usman at UFC 294.
According to ESPN, Chimaev’s manager, Majdi Shammas, said that the superstar did not break his hand but did suffer a torn ligament.
The middleweight are forced to wear a brace for the next month before reassessing the injured hand. At the moment, it looks like he won’t have to go through surgery.

Khamzat Chimaev looks to fight for the belt
Prior to the hyped up co-main event between Chimaev and Usman, UFC boss Dana White promised that the winner would be next in line for a title shot against newly crowned middleweight champion Sean Strickland. With the win, Chimaev broke into the top 10 of the middleweight division’s rankings.
Still undefeated with seven straight wins in the UFC, it could arguably make sense to give the next title shot to ”Borz”, but the reigning champion does not agree.
“He hasn’t fucking deserved it, but here we are. Give it to him. He sells a lot of fights. I’ll go fight the fucking man for five rounds. But no, he’s not earned it. He doesn’t fucking deserve it. Getting a decision with a welterweight off the couch is not fucking earning it,” Strickland recently said on UFC Fight Pass.
