On Saturday October 29, former UFC champion Anderson Silva returns to the ring to clash with YouTuber turned boxer Jake Paul. The eight-round fight will take place at the Desert Diamond Arena in Glendale, Arizona.
In a recent interview with MMA Weekly, Silva revealed some unsettling details in his preparations ahead of his fifth professional boxing bout.
“I’m training hard for win — I’m training with the good boxers, high-level, and five guys come to help me,” Silva said. “And the last sparring with (my sparring partner), he is knocked me out two times, and when I finish my training, I talked to my coach and even said, ‘Coach, let me tell you something, why the guys knock me out two times?’ And the coach said, ‘You need to prepare for war, and you prepare for war.’”
Coach denies that Anderson Silva was KO’d in training
However, the Brazilian’s coach, Luiz Carlos Dorea, denied that the 47-year-old fighter was knocked out during training.
“What I can say is that didn’t happen. Thank God we follow all the steps in training and Anderson did excellent sparring. He’s 100 percent for the fight,” Carlos Dorea recently told MMA Fighting.
The October 29 boxing event also features former UFC middleweight Uriah Hall who will take on ex-NFL star Le’Veon Bell in their professional boxing debuts. Hall retired from MMA in August.
