Former UFC fighter and bare-knuckle boxer Paige VanZant is no stranger to taking a punch. However, being slapped in the face is a whole other experience.
“It was weird to stand there with your hands behind your back and I just stood there praying, let me eat this,” VanZant told MMA Fighting. “Once I took the first one, I had all the confidence in the world.”
“I was nervous going into it, but it’s more like just nerves that I don’t want to get knocked out. Because you just don’t know what to expect. That’s the only real bad-case scenario that can happen. After I took the first one, I pretty much knew I was going to win.”’
VanZant claimed she really didn’t get hurt participating in the PowerSlap.
“More it was the sting of being slapped, that’s the only thing I could compare it to. It was more of a sting. I felt the impact, of course, it didn’t feel good, but when I compare it to taking a punch and being in bare-knuckle boxing, it’s entirely different,” VanZant said.
