Deontay Wilder hints at retirement following shocking loss to Joseph Parker
Publicerat

Retirement may be looming for heavyweight boxer Deontay ”The Bronze Bomber” Wilder.
At yesterdays mega boxing event Day of Reckoning in Saudi Arabia Wilder was pitted against New Zealand’s Joseph Parker in the co-main event. Wilder entered the bout as a huge favourite, but early on it seemed as if the odds makers got it wrong.
Parker pushed the pace against Wilder – who seemed off and flat.
After twelve rounds Parker was awarded the win via unanimous decision, while Wilder fell to 1-3 in his last four outings.
”It’s been a pleasure”
In the interviews after the fight Wilder seemed to hint at a possible retirement, though remained noncommittal on the issue.
”We have a little bit more left. I’ve done a great job with managing my money and investing. I’m a happy fighter. I’ll be back soon and if not, it’s been a pleasure. ”
Heading into the bout with Parker Wilder had rebounded from back-to-back losses against Tyson Fury with a devastating KO over Robert Helenius.
Regardless of it this is the ned or not Wilder seems to be content with his career and life choices.
”I’ve found a lot of peace and happiness in my life,” Wilder said. ”I’ve been wearing this smile all week long. I’m blessed. I gave it all I’ve got.”
