Jake Paul got competition: Massive boxing star ”Loma” returns the same date!

Former three-weight world champion Vasiliy ”Loma” Lomachenko will return to the ring to take on unbeaten contender Jamaine Ortiz. The lightweight bout will take place at Madison Square Garden in New York on October 29.

That is the very same date that YouTuber turned boxer Jake Paul will face former UFC middleweight kingpin Anderson Silva inside the Gila River Arena in Glendale, Arizona.

Vasiliy Lomachenko dedicates fight to the Ukrainian people

Earlier this year, Ukrainian Vasiliy Lomachenko was set to fight then-unified lightweight champion George Kambosos Jr, but following the Russian invasion of Ukraine, he chose not to pursue the fight.

However, if Lomachenko beats Ortiz in New York, promoter Bob Arum is reported to have assured the Ukrainian that he will face the winner of the title fight between undisputed lightweight champion Devin Haney and George Kambosos. That bout is scheduled for October 16 in Melbourne, Australia.

”I love my sport, and I am so glad to be back. My goal is to win the undisputed lightweight title, but I will not take Jamaine Ortiz lightly. Madison Square Garden and Hulu Theater at MSG have been special places in my career, and I look forward to making more great memories on October 29.”

”I want to dedicate this fight to all my Ukrainian people. I wear the flag proudly every time I step in the ring,” Lomachenko said about the upcoming fight.
