Retired former boxing world champion Mikaela Lauren will return to the ring.
On Saturday February 24, the Swedish 48-year-old will fight at the Danish Fight Night that will take place at Royal Arena in Copenhagen. At the moment there is no word about her opponent.
“Copenhagen and Denmark have great traditions in boxing and delivered many fantastic boxing events over the years,” Lauren said on Instagram. “The fact that ‘Danish Fight Night’ will take place at the spectacular Royal Arena makes me even more motivated. I love to compete at big events with a huge crowd, and I will probably feel like a bit of a rockstar.”
The former national team swimmer turned to boxing in 2009 and became the WBC female light middleweight in 2014 after defeating Aleksandra Magdziak Lopes via unanimous decision.
Lauren won the vacant IBO female light-middleweight title in 2018 after defeating Verena Kaiser via majority decision.
In her last fight she defeated Paty Ramirez before she retired with a record of 32-6.
