Heavyweight fan favourite Tai Tuivasa returns for hometown showdown!

Publicerat

UFC 293 is booked for Sydney, Australia on September ninth and the event just got a huge fight added: a heavyweight collision between hometown hero Tai Tuivasa and the hulking Russian Alexander Volkov!
During 2020 Tuivasa returned to the win column with a huge knockout win over Stefan Struve. He then went on to line upp four additional wins to earn a big main event spot against Ciryl Gane in the main event at UFC Paris. Despite a strong showing where he even dropped his opponent, Tuivasa was eventually knocked out in the third round.
In his most recent outing Tuivasa was pitted against surging Russian powerhouse Sergei Pavlovich and was finished early in the first round.
Volkov is an established veteran in the UFC’s heavyweight division and has competed in the promotion since 2016. Throughout the years Volkov has racked up impressive wins over the likes of Fabricio Werdum and Alsitair Overeem amongst others. He is currently on a two fight winning streak, both victories via first round TKO.
