UFC middleweight contender Paulo ”Borrachinha” Costa is about to ink a very lucrative deal with the promotion.

That is according to his girlfriend and manager Tamara Alves.

”[Paulo] went from being one of the most undervalued athletes to one of the most valued athletes within the UFC. I have no doubt that today Paulo is the highest paid Brazilian athlete within the organization. Don’t know if you know any Brazilian athlete who earns more than a million dollars per fight,” Alves told Ag.Fight (via Sportskeeda).

In a recent interview with PVT, Paulo Costa commented on the lucrative deal.

“I haven’t signed the contract yet but we have reached a deal with the UFC regarding the pay,” Costa said. “It wasn’t easy, there was a lot of hard work, and I have to highlight Tamara’s [Costa’s manager] brilliant work here.”

The Brazilian claimed to be in current discussion with the UFC regarding his next fight and said he wanted to fight both Sean Strickland and Khamza Chimaev in 2023.

”Borrachinha” last fought at UFC 278 where he clashed with Luke Rockhold in a three-round war. In the end, he stood as the winner via unanimous decision.

Costa has a professional MMA record of 14-2, with 6-2 in the UFC.
