Hammarö Fight Club’s Anton Ringvall, who has become one of Sweden’s most active amateur MMA fighters, will be back in action on Saturday’s Battle of Botnia 8 in Umeå.
Across him in the cage he will find Finland’s Verneri Hakkinen, who is a tough amateur lightweight on the regional scene.
In an exclusive interview with Frontkick.online, Ringvall talks about fighting a Nordic derby on his hometurf.
“I’m so fucking ready! Hakkinen will feel my power and drown in it,” he says. “It feels great to fight on my home turf with all the support I will get, especially in a Nordic derby.”
The Swede comes from a submission vicotiry over another Finnish fighter in Miro Honkanen at Carelia Fight 17 in October. He also competed in Swedish MMA organizations like Fight Club Rush, Wolf Fight Promotion and Allstars Fight Night.
Hakkinen has a 9-9 amateur record and last competed at CAGE 59 in September.
Anton Ringvall: “My job as a fighter is to perform”
The fight will be the first for Anton Ringvall since signing with Swedish combat sports management Viracci Sports Management. Now, he feels like he can focus one hundred percent on showing the best version of himself in the cage.
“It’s just positive, my job as a fighter is to perform. All the work around the fighters very few people actually see. Viracci Sports Management supports me all the way” Ringvall says.
