Samuel Ericsson just secured a new win as he faced Tarek Khelifi at Karate Combat 37 in Florida.

In the first round, the powerful Swedish striker dropped his taller opponent with a solid left hand, but Khelifi returned fire in the second round, dropping the Swede to the ground.

With less than two minutes left of the third round, the Algerian hurted his ankle and was unable to continue the fight.

Samuel Ericsson was declared winner by TKO.

“The first calf kick I threw I felt my chin just digging into the back of his leg and I was like ‘I got you’. After the first round I was very confident that it would work again,” Ericsson said in the post-fight interview. “My game plan was to do a lot of boxing, so he protects high, and then work on the calfs.”

The Swede was happy with the his performance at Karate Combat 37.

“I never proved doubters wrong, they just come up with something else now,” Ericsson said with a smile.
