YouTuber turned pro boxer Jake Paul is known for taking fights against former UFC fighters and social media profiles. On Saturday December 15, however, he faces the unkown Andre August.
The fight is a way to be a real boxing prospect and build a real record.
“It’s mostly for me, for my experience, my road to world championship, and to grow inside the squared circle, those four corners. And to get the time under my belt. I think people, when I said I wanted to become world champion, thought it was just some gimmick or I was saying it just to sell more fights or to gain people’s attention. When I said it, I actually meant it,” Paul recently said on The MMA Hour.
What’s on the former YouTuber’s mind is a being the best boxer in the world.
“It’s my biggest goal and this is the path to get there. It’s no longer about business and making all this money. I’ve already generated $250 million, $200 million in pay-per-view sales. We’ve done that. Great. Congratulations. This is about real boxing now.”
The 26-year-old currently has a pro record of 7-1 with his only loss coming against Tommy Fury in February 2023.
“I think the path that I’m on now tees me up in the future to fight Canelo,” Paul said.
