The YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul faced Ryan Bourland in what was supposed to be the co-main event of Saturday’s big boxing card in San Juan, Puerto Rico.
Paul came out strong and landed a big combination that hurt his opponent before poured it on until referee stopped the bout. Paul stood as the winner via TKO at 2:37 of the first round.
“I wanted it to be a little longer to give the fans some more time,” Paul said in his postfight interview. “I’m just so happy to be in Puerto Rico. Y’all show mad love.”
Jake Paul is ready for the big leagues?
After back-to-back KO wins, the former YouTuber claimed he wants to step up in competition.
“I guess we just gotta step it up even way more. I’m ready for the big leagues. I’m getting sharp. This is my life now.”
The main event between WBO, IBF and WBA featherweight champion Amanda Serrano and German challenger Nina Meinke was unfortunately canceled just before it was going to take place. Serrano was forced to pull out to an eye injury she suffered 36 hour before the fight.
“This to all my beautiful Fans, My Island, My fellow fighters who have been sending me well wishes With a Torn Broken Heart I want to say I’m So Sorry. Everyone who knows me knows I’m a warrior & I would never agree to cancel a fight. I would have fought without an eye or arm,” Serrano wrote on social media.
