UFC superstar Khamzat Chimaev took his first steps as a MMA fighter in Swedish MMA promotion Fight Club Rush, which returns with their nineteenth event on Saturday.
Chimaev fought his first amateur bout on FCR 1, back in 2017, and his second pro bout at FCR 3 in 2018.
In a new interview with Sebastian Vendel-Martinez from Maximum Sports and Frontkick, “Borz” remembered the good old days and is happy to see that FCR is growing bigger and bigger.
“It’s nice. I grew up in this same organization, I showed for the first time who I am here, so it’s nice to see that I’m growing and the organization where I started growing as well. So it’s good for me and good for the organization as well. So I’m happy for the guys,” Chimaev said.
Khamzat may return this summer
At the moment it’s not clear when Chimaev will fight again, however, he aims for a return in the summer.
“I think in the summer I will be back, I want to fight in Saudi Arabia but I don’t think anyone wants to fight me there. We will see what’s going to happen. I’m just waiting for something,” Chimaev said. “They wanted me to fight at (UFC) 300, but I said it was too short time to fight at 77 kilos.”
